All About Nursing Schools

What is a nurse?  A nurse is a male or female medical professional who attended nursing schools and so is trained in the healing arts and performs care to the sick under the supervision of a physician.  Nurses are also involved in medical research and assist in treating emergency victims, injuries and illnesses.  Nurses graduating from nursing schools work in doctors offices, laboratories, schools, hospitals and other venues where medical care is necessary.  In order to become a nurse, the interested person needs to attend one of the many nursing schools located throughout the country.  The Masters degree programs in each of the nursing schools vary slightly but the core curriculum is essentially the same.  There are various admission requirements for nursing schools, and if interested, each should be researched.

Going to nursing schools can also pose a lucrative career path.  It is estimated by the Department of Health and Human Services or HHS, that by the year 2010, there will be an extreme shortage of nursing professionals graduated from nursing schools.  This can actually translate into profitable opportunities for those graduating from nursing schools.  Nursing schools with well trained, qualified nurses are in demand and it does not seem like there will be a change in that any time soon.  Nursing schools will not only ensure job security but will also bring about money making opportunities that will assure financial security. 

Because of this trend and the increased interest in nursing as a career, many more nursing schools are cropping up throughout the country.  There are also nursing schools for those seeking an online degree.  Before deciding on nursing schools, credentials should be thoroughly checked as well as career opportunities for graduates.  While online degree training at nursing schools may seem appealing as an alternative to traditional nursing schools, whether that will translate into potential jobs is questionable.  Most employers in the healthcare industry who are looking for nursing professionals and graduates of nursing schools look for those who have hands on medical training.
